Beta-Glucan
Beta-glucan is a polysaccharide, meaning that it is a sugar (e.g., starch and cellulose) that can be derived from yeast.
It has a long history of safe use in skin care and dermatology as a long-lasting, film-forming moisturizer. The use of beta-glucan in moisturizing and healing minor wounds and burns has been fairly well established. The ability of Beta-glucans to stimulate and activate macrophages prevent skin infections and helps protect aging skin from immune dysfunction. It has some antioxidant properties and is a strong anti-inflammatory agent.
