Bioque Serum XL is an anti-aging skin care product from Virginia-based company Bioque Technology, Inc. The product includes a rejuvenating serum and a purifying cleanser. According to its website, this anti-aging skin care product line is a multi-peptide products. The most important active ingredient is the patented Argireline with unusually high concentration of 20%. Argireline is one of the essential active ingredients in many competing anti-aging creams on the market. Its major function is to relax facial muscles to reduce and prevent appearance of lines and wrinkles. The ingredients is especially effective among 3%-15%.based on case studies. Competing brands often only contain 10% or less of this clinically-proven Botox® Alternative wrinkle-reducing ingredient. The bioque web site claims that the highest percentage of Argireline, a 20% concentration (the double of the highest concentration found in competitor brands) together with its Nobel prize winning ‘signal technology’ delivery (a liposome delivery system, see discussion below) contribute to its immediate effect on reducing wrinkles, make it #1 in anti-aging skin care product that the competitors lack. The effect of this peptide can be enhanced with the proper combination of synergistic ingredients, effectively tripling the effectiveness of this muscle relaxing peptide. Two additional peptides with anti-oxidants are other active ingredients in the formula to stimulate production of collagen and elastin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and repairing structural damage to deeper layers of the skin which contribute to this product’s long term anti-aging effect. The concentration of these 2 peptides is 5% as B-peptide E-L and Matrixyl 3000—the same ingredients as Strivectin. Matrixyl300® (a patented peptide ingredient): is clinically proven to promote collagen and elastin production in the skin. Matrixyl 3000® remarkably encourages skin tissue to restore itself to a more youthful strength while promoting deep tissue repair. Bio-peptide E-L – Also known as Hydrolyzed soy protein, is found in many products that need several levels of moisturizers. Serum XL packs in anti-oxidant vitamins including Vitamin A to fight free radicals that break down collagen, Vitamin C to stimulate production of collagen, and Vitamin E to heal scarring. Facially-applied stretch mark treatments contain mending ingredients that ‘glue’ the surface layer of skin into a smoother surface. Beneath that surface however, damaged skin will continue to deteriorate and cavities will continue to form as you age. Basically, other third party rating and reviews as well as consumer reviews agree with what is claimed on Bioque’s web site. Its closest competitor, Bellaplex, uses many of the same ingredients for effective wrinkle removal.

Here comes some negative voice from third party rating/review sites and skin care forum customers. Bioque does not post/disclose the full ingredients of bioque serum XL on their web site (this is true after we reviewed their web sites). Some third party rating sites even claims this product doe not contain Matrixyl 3000, another important active ingredients in many other anti-aging skin care creams. Our conclusion is positive for this product, we contribute this article to let customer form informed decision on their own.

Delivery Method

Another unique strength of this product is its liposome delivery system known as signal technology which was initially developed by the founder of the company, nobel prize winner microbiologist to fight cancer). The active ingredients molecules are encapsulated in liposome sphere which can penetrate the lipid-bi-layer skin cell membrane and deliver the active ingredients into the skin cell of the epidermis and dermis. The ‘signal technology’ delivers a full concentration of these peptides deep to reverse structural damage—repairing the bottom-layer cavities that cause the appearance of wrinkles for long-term results. In other skin care lines lacking the benefit of ‘signal technology,’ a much smaller percentage of beneficial compounds penetrates into through the cellular walls; most ingredients are lost on the surface of the skin cells.

The web site claim the product deliver both short term and long term effects. The product is claimed to deliver dramatic results—30 percent peptide formulation will work to reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles.  Most users see improvement in skin in just 15 to 30 days. The third party rating sites basically agree with the effectiveness of this product. Apply a thin coat to clean, dry skin, twice daily. Results can be seen starting in two weeks with maximum visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles up to 50% within 45-60 days. Most effective in orbital eye area and forehead. After 60 days, once a day application maintains results. If you are using Serum XL to extend the effective life of Botox injections, be certain to apply it to those injection points. There is no separate ‘eye cream’ in the Bioque line. This product is designed for use on skin areas around the eyes also. It is an excellent moisturizer, too. However, few customers claim less or no effect on reducing wrinkle or improvement in aging sign of skin which is in conflict with the testimonials posted on Bioque’s web site.

Clinical Studies Validation and Customer Testimonials

Bioque’s web site post testimonials from customers, and their products were recommended by a number of fashion magazines, Although no clinical research proof and validation results were available on their web sites. Despite referencing several clinical studies and medical profession recommendations, they did not list either for their sources. A number of celebrities are fans of this products and have been the consistent and satisfied user of this product. Last year, Bioque was asked to provide exclusive VIP packs of its Serum XL and other products at the American Music Awards in Hollywood; celebrity users include Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Halle Berry.

Price and Guarantee Policy

Price is relatively expensive, $85 for 1 fl. oz size. It may better target celebrities. There is customer complain it is expensive to repurchase to maintain the anti-aging results who claimed that comparative products can delivery the same results but at half of its price. The company offer 60 day money back guarantee. Argireline has not found its way to lower priced products because it is relatively new.  With time, Argireline-like ingredients will eventually infiltrate the less costly anti-aging products.
